Metric timing belts
Metric HTD timing belts have rounded teeth that carry more load and run more quietly than trapezoidal belts. They’re the standard on modern industrial drives. Choose a pitch, or search by the code on your old belt, such as 8M-1200-30.
Choosing the right metric timing belt
Three things decide which metric timing belt you need: the pitch, the length and the width.
- Reading the codeA code like 8M-1200-30 is an 8mm pitch belt with a 1200mm pitch length and a 30mm width.
- HTD or RPP?RPP is Megadyne’s parabolic-tooth version of HTD. RPP and HTD belts of the same pitch run in the same pulleys.
- HTD or Supertorque?Supertorque S-profile belts have the same pitches but a different tooth shape, and need their own pulleys. Check the tooth profile before swapping.
2M · 2mm pitch
The smallest HTD pitch, for 3D printers, small automation and instruments.
3M / RPP3 · 3mm pitch
Small power tools, printers, sewing machines and light automation.
5M / RPP5 · 5mm pitch
Power tools, woodworking machines, appliances and light conveyors.
8M / RPP8 · 8mm pitch
The most common industrial pitch, for pumps, compressors, conveyors and machine tools.
14M / RPP14 · 14mm pitch
Heavy industrial drives, mining, paper mills and large process machinery.
Double sided
HTD teeth on both faces, for serpentine and reversing drives.
Pulleys & bushes
Matching HTD timing pulleys, and taper lock bushes to fit them.
Supertorque
Same pitches with a modified tooth, for higher torque and quieter running.

Send us the code from the old belt, its measurements or a photo, and we’ll find the right belt. If the code has worn off, count the teeth and measure the width and we’ll work out the rest.
