American narrow wedge belts are sized in inches and found on US-built equipment such as rooftop HVAC units, cooling towers, compressors, pumps and heavy machinery. Choose a section, or search by the code on your old belt, such as 5V1000.
Choosing the right American narrow belt
American narrow belts use their own sizes and codes, so it’s worth checking three things.
- Reading the codeThe number is the outside length in tenths of an inch. A code like 5V1000 is a 5V belt with a 100.0 inch outside length.
- Not metric3V and 5V are close in size to SPZ and SPB, but they’re made to different standards, so match American belts to American pulleys.
- Smooth, cogged or maintenance free3VX and 5VX cogged belts run cooler on small pulleys, and maintenance-free versions never need re-tensioning.
3V & 3VX
For fans, rooftop HVAC units, pumps and compressors.
5V & 5VX
For larger HVAC units, cooling towers and heavier drives.
8V
For crushers, mining plant and the heaviest drives.
