Cogged classical V-belts have notches moulded into the underside, so they bend easily round small pulleys, run cooler and grip better than a smooth belt of the same size. They're a popular upgrade on motors, pumps, compressors, fans and garden and agricultural machinery. Why choose a cogged belt?
Small pulleys, less heatThe cogs let the belt bend round small pulleys with less stress, so it runs cooler and lasts longer, especially on compact drives and high-speed motors.
Better grip, less slipRaw-edge cogged belts grip the pulley sides firmly, transmitting more power with less slip. That can mean lower running costs on drives that run for long hours.
Upgrading from smoothA cogged belt is the same width and runs in the same pulley grooves as its smooth equivalent, so an AX68 can usually replace an A68 directly.
Tip: the code works the same way as a smooth belt. AX68 is an AX section with a 68 inch inside length. On multi-belt drives, replace every belt with a matched set, and don't mix smooth and cogged belts on the same drive.
