Wedge belts
Wedge belts have a deeper, narrower profile than classical V-belts, so they transmit more power in less space. Choose a section, then the belt type, or search by the code on your old belt, such as SPZ1250.
Choosing the right wedge belt
Three things decide which wedge belt you need: the section, the length and the type of belt.
- Section and lengthWedge belts are sized by datum length in millimetres. A code like SPZ1250 is an SPZ section belt with a 1250mm datum length.
- Wedge or classical?Wedge belts are deeper for their width. An SPZ is 8mm deep against 6mm for a classical Z, so measure the depth as well as the width.
- Smooth, cogged or maintenance freeSmooth SP belts suit most drives. Cogged XP belts run cooler on small pulleys, and maintenance-free belts never need re-tensioning.
SPZ section
The most common wedge belt, for motors, pumps, fans and air handling units.
SPA section
For larger motors, compressors and supply and extract fans.
SPB section
For heavier drives, big fans, cooling towers and crushers.
SPC section
The largest standard wedge belt, for heavy, high-power drives.
