Measuring Your Belt
Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.
Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.
Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

STD timing belts have curvilinear, particularly shear-resistant teeth. The tooth geometry and belt structure spread the load evenly and give optimised engagement with STD (S-profile) pulleys.

Check it’s the right belt
- The old belt should be marked S8M-1024-50 (or 1024 S8M 50). 1024 is the pitch length in mm and 50 the width in mm.
- If the marking has worn off, count the teeth: this belt has 128. Multiply by 8mm to get the pitch length.
- S-profile (STD) belts have a different tooth shape from HTD (M) belts and need S-profile pulleys.
