Low profile belts
Low profile belts are thinner than standard V-belts of the same width, so they bend round back-side idlers and small pulleys with far less stress. They’re built for reverse-bend drives on agricultural machinery and ride-on mower decks.
Choosing the right low profile belt
Three things to check before ordering a low profile belt.
- Built for back bendThe thinner body flexes round idlers pressing on the back of the belt without cracking, so it lasts far longer on these drives.
- Replace like for likeLow profile belts share the top width of A, B and C sections but sit differently in the groove, so don’t swap one for a standard belt.
- Check the idlersA seized or worn idler will quickly ruin a new belt, so check idlers and bearings when you fit it.
