Classical V-belts
Classical V-belts are the original industrial drive belt, still found on motors, pumps, compressors, fans, machine tools and agricultural machinery everywhere. Choose a section, then the belt type, or search by the code on your old belt, such as A68.
Choosing the right classical belt
Three things decide which classical V-belt you need: the section, the length and the type of belt.
- Section and lengthA code like A68 means an A section belt with a 68 inch inside length (1727mm). Metric codes may show the inside length (Li) or the slightly longer datum length (Ld).
- Classical or wedge?Wedge belts such as SPZ and SPA look similar but are deeper for their width, so measure the depth as well as the width to be sure.
- Smooth or cogged?Cogged belts, coded ZX, AX, BX and so on, bend more easily round small pulleys and run cooler. They’re a straight upgrade on the smooth equivalent.
Light sections
Small, light-duty belts for small machine tools, sewing machines and compact drives.
Z section
For light industrial drives, small motors and pumps, and workshop machinery.
A section
The most widely used classical belt, for motors, pumps, compressors and fans.
B section
For larger motors, compressors, fans and agricultural machinery.
C section
For heavy-duty drives, crushers, large compressors and combines.
D section
For very heavy, high-power drives such as mills and quarry plant.
E section
The largest classical belt, for the heaviest industrial drives.
