Measuring Your Belt
Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.
Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.
Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

309-3MGT-15 Gates PowerGrip GT3 Timing Belt
The Gates PowerGrip GT3 309-3MGT-15 is a 3mm-pitch GT timing belt with a 309mm pitch length, 103 teeth and a width of 15mm. It fits GT-profile pulleys of the same pitch.
PowerGrip GT3 belts have a fibreglass tension cord, a neoprene body and precision-formed teeth with a low-friction nylon facing. Gates rates them at about twice the capacity of its earlier PowerGrip GT and HTD belts, with high resistance to tooth jump, quieter running and no need for lubrication. They work from −30°C to +100°C and resist oil, grease, grime and moisture. Small-pitch GT belts are ideal for compact drives on hand tools, business machines, domestic appliances and precision servo motors.

Check it’s the right belt
- The old belt should be marked 309-3MGT-15 (or 309 3MGT 15). 309 is the pitch length in mm, 3MGT is the profile, and 15 is the width in mm.
- If the marking has worn off, count the teeth: this belt has 103. Multiply by 3mm to get the pitch length.
- GT teeth are a different shape from older HTD (3M) and T-profile belts. At this pitch a GT belt needs GT-profile pulleys.
