Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.
Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.
Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

4L280K Medway Kevlar Garden Belt
The Medway Kevlar 4L280K is a 4L section lawn and garden V-belt with a 28″ (711mm) outside length. It’s the equivalent of a 4L280. It’s a good-value Kevlar-corded garden belt from Medway.
Medway Kevlar garden belts have a length-stable Kevlar (aramid) cord and a cotton cover, so they need fewer take-ups and adjustments. They suit clutching drives and resist heat and oil, for a longer life on mowers, garden tractors and agricultural machinery.

Check it’s the right belt
- The old belt should be marked 4L280K. It may also be listed as 4L280. On garden belts the number is the outside length in tenths of an inch, so 4L280 is 28″ round the outside.
- If the markings have worn off, measure round the outside of the belt with a tape (a worn belt may measure slightly long), or call us with your machine model or the maker’s part number.
- Garden belts are often listed by the machine maker’s part number. We can cross-reference it for you.
