Classical V-belts are the original industrial drive belt, still found on motors, pumps, compressors, fans, machine tools and agricultural machinery everywhere. We stock classical belts in every standard section, from Optibelt, our premier brand, and other leading makers, along with cogged versions for tighter drives. Finding the right classical belt

Reading the codeA code like A68 means an A section belt with a 68 inch inside length (1727mm). Metric codes may show the inside length (Li) or the slightly longer datum length (Ld), so check which one your belt uses.

Smooth or cogged?Cogged belts, coded AX, BX and so on, have notches on the underside. They bend more easily round small pulleys, run cooler and are often a straight upgrade on the smooth equivalent.

Classical or wedge?Wedge belts such as SPZ and SPA look similar but are deeper for their width. Measure the depth as well as the width to be sure you've got a classical belt.

Tip: on drives with two or more belts, replace them all at once with a matched set. Mixing new and worn belts leaves the new ones carrying the load and wearing out early.
