Measuring Your Belt
Measuring Your Belt
Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.
Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.
Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

The Optibelt VB B63 is a B section classical V-belt, 17mm wide with a 63″ (1600mm) inside length. It’s made by Optibelt, our premier brand, for industrial motors, fans and air handling units, compressors and agricultural machinery.
Optibelt VB belts have a wrapped construction for smooth, quiet running and a long, consistent life, and they cope well with demanding agricultural drives and V-flat drives. They’re made to Optibelt’s S=C PLUS standard, so belts of the same size can be used together as a set without measuring and matching.

Check it’s the right belt
- The old belt should be marked B63, or 17 x 1600 Li. The letter is the section and the number is the inside length in inches. Measure 17mm across the top and 11mm deep.
- If the markings have worn off, wrap a piece of string round the inside of the belt, mark it and measure the string. It should come to about 1600mm.
- If your belt isn’t 17mm wide, see our A section and C section belts.
Not quite the right length? The nearest sizes are B62 and B64, or see all B section belts. On drives with more than one belt, replace them all at once with belts of the same brand. Not sure? Call 020 8138 2848 and we’ll help you find the right belt.
