Measuring Your Belt

Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.

Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.

Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

The Bando RED-S II SB68 is an SB section agricultural V-belt, 16.7mm wide with a 68″ (1727mm) effective length. It’s made by Bando for combine harvesters, balers, mowers and other farm and horticultural machinery.

RED-S II belts were developed for agricultural drives with reverse-bend idlers and tensioners. They’re thinner than a standard classical V-belt, with the polyester tension cords set in the best position for bending both ways, which gives them a much longer life on these drives than a conventional belt.

Check it’s the right belt

  • The old belt should be marked SB68. The letters are the section and the number is the effective length in inches.
  • RED-S II belts are thinner than classical belts (SB is 9mm deep, against 11mm for a classical B), so match the SB code rather than fitting a classical B belt in its place.
  • Many combines and balers list this belt under the machine maker’s part number. If that’s all you have, call us with it.
  • If your belt isn’t 16.7mm wide, see our SA and SC RED-S II belts.

Not quite the right length? The nearest sizes are SB67 and SB69, or see all SB RED-S II belts. On agricultural drives, check the idlers and tensioner bearings when you change the belt, as a seized idler will quickly wreck a new one. Not sure? Call 020 8138 2848 and we’ll help you find the right belt.
