Measuring Your Belt

Check the markings first. Most belts have their size printed on the back, for example A24, SPZ1000 or 8PK1200. Type that code into the search bar to find the exact match.

Markings worn off? Measure across the top of the belt for the width, and its depth. For the length, wrap a piece of string round the belt, mark where it meets, then lay the string flat and measure it.

Timing or ribbed belt? Count the teeth or ribs, and measure the gap between them.

The Dunlop XPA1832 is an XPA section cogged raw-edge wedge belt, 12.7mm wide with a 1832mm pitch length. It fits the same pulleys as an SPA wedge belt, and is a good-value replacement for industrial drives such as motors, pumps, fans and compressors.

Dunlop cogged belts have raw-edge sides and moulded cogs on the underside. The cogs make them more flexible than a wrapped belt, so they run on smaller pulleys and stay cooler, and the raw edges grip well even at lower tension, which saves energy. They resist heat and oil, and are antistatic to ISO 1813.

Check it’s the right belt

  • The old belt should be marked XPA1832. The letters are the section and the number is the pitch length in mm. Measure 12.7mm across the top and 10mm deep.
  • A Dunlop XPA1832 can replace a wrapped SPA1832 belt, and usually runs cooler and lasts longer. On multi-belt drives, change the whole set.
  • If your belt isn’t 12.7mm wide, see our XPZ and XPB belts.

Not quite the right length? The nearest sizes are XPA1800 and XPA1850, or see all XPA belts. Not sure? Call 020 8138 2848 and we’ll help you find the right belt.
